Glencoe + Glen Etive Elopement

Glencoe Elopement, Brice and Sylvana's Elopement in Glen Etive.

WIND, RAIN, SUNSHINE, CLOUDS AND EVEN A TOUCH OF SNOW ON THE HILLS.

As I travel up the A82 Buachaille Etive Mòr comes into view and suddenly it feels like I’ve stepped into an old movie scene, leaving the familiar world behind. Glencoe and Glen Etive seem to possess their own climate, distinct from the rest of Scotland. A dusting of snow on the hills, rain drums on the car roof, yet sunshine spills out of the glens like golden wine from a bottle. Surrounded by vast mountains and endless valleys, I’m reminded of how small I am in this grand landscape.

All of this merely set the stage for the day ahead - Brice and Sylvanna’s day.

They chose to exchange vows at the base of Buachaille Etive Mòr, right beside the Glen Etive Mor Waterfall. The only sounds were the rushing river and the patriotic notes of Kevin Spears’ bagpipes, as the weather changed on every beat.

Annalese McDermott conducted the deeply personal ceremony with grace and the entire day was orchestrated by Madame Olive.

After the ceremony we waited out the rain in the car before roaming the hills and glens looking for photograph opportunities.

Glencoe seldom falls short of expectations. Despite the chill in the air, the sun began to break through the clouds. We seized the moment and within a few hours, we had journeyed through two or three distinct locations. Glencoe and Glen Etive offer a wealth of picturesque spots for photography, ranging from bustling tourist areas to more serene, secluded locations.
